As a very shy and private person, this project has been a terrifying undertaking. Regardless of my feelings and everything I’ve had to overcome to start this, true courage belongs only to one exceptional person - my son. Selflessly, it is his life, his stories and his beautifully complicated neurodivergent mind and world that he is laying bare for everyone to see and share-in. As young as the age of 8, the level of his bravery to share his disability with others is unmatched. It is his courage that has strengthened mine, and it is his bright light, and inspiring walk with dyspraxia, dyscalculia, dyslexia and more, that has encouraged me to share this little sweet wonder of humanity (my boy).
More importantly, my son has a unique ability to give voice, and a rarely heard child’s perspective into many important, but lesser known specific disabilities. His openness about his struggles and experiences, and allowing me to share our stories, is his incredible gift to families that will help so many in their search for understanding and peace.
Having access to these stories, experiences, and personal insights, we ask our readers and visitors to this site to please be kind and respectful with the generous gift of this young man’s heart, his life, and his vulnerabilities. Please cherish and protect this gift of openness. He is forever the real hero of this story and every story. I’m just the narrator.
